Joseph B. Harley (pianist/composer/arranger/producer) is a native of New Jersey, by way of New York City. Harley is a rising musician of today's generation who is building his character and repertoire in the music industry. His style of playing has been best described as "harmonic" because of his intricate style, and consistent exploration of tonal variances. He combines what he “hears” with what he “knows,” and the results are a seamless merging of skill, technique, and passion.
As a child, Harley played drums (which is still a hobby), then transitioned to piano at the age of 19. Harley served in the US Air Force multiple tours namely, "Operation Southern Watch," "Operation Enduring Freedom," and "Operation Iraqi Freedom” and after eight years diligently serving his country, he received an Honorable Discharge. Harley would later discover a deeper passion for music which ultimately shifted his career.
Over the years, Harley has been privileged to accompany artists across genres from R&B, Gospel, to Jazz, and Hip Hop, with a career that has allowed him to accompany world renowned artists such as Stevie Wonder, James Hall Worship & Praise, Harlem Gospel Choir, Chrisette Michele, Avant, Faith Evans, Angie Stone, Tamar Braxton, Mobb Deep, Chris Brown and Hip Hop super star Ludacris.
An academic scholar, Joseph Harley received his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Jazz Performance with a concentration in Piano from the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. As a graduate he leads tutorials and workshops, teaches piano to young adults, and actively produces and composes music for talented independent artists.
